How to Migrate From UptimeRobot to Monitorion (Step-by-Step)

If you have outgrown UptimeRobot — hitting the 50-monitor limit on free, needing more check types, or frustrated by false positives — migrating to Monitorion takes about 15 minutes.

Before You Start

You will need your UptimeRobot API key (found in My Settings > API Settings). Your monitors, alert contacts, and check history will transfer. Monitorion cannot import UptimeRobot's historical check data, but your monitors start checking immediately after import.

Step 1: Export From UptimeRobot

Monitorion's built-in import tool connects to the UptimeRobot API and pulls your monitors automatically. You do not need to export a CSV or manually recreate anything.

1. Sign up at app.monitorion.com
2. Go to Settings > Import
3. Paste your UptimeRobot API key
4. Click Import

Monitorion fetches all your monitors, maps the types (HTTP, Ping, Port, Keyword), and creates them in your account. Monitor names, URLs, check intervals, and alert thresholds are preserved.

Step 2: Add What UptimeRobot Cannot Do

Now that your existing monitors are imported, add the check types UptimeRobot does not support:

• SSL Certificate monitoring — get alerted 30 days before expiry
• DNS record monitoring — detect unauthorized changes to A, MX, TXT, NS records
• Domain expiry monitoring — never let a domain registration lapse
• Security headers — track your A-F security grade over time
• JSON API assertions — validate that your API returns the correct data, not just 200 OK

Step 3: Enable Multi-Region

UptimeRobot checks from multiple locations but uses a simple retry mechanism. Monitorion uses majority-vote consensus across 5 global regions. Enable multi-region on your critical HTTP monitors for dramatically fewer false positives.

Step 4: Disable UptimeRobot

Once you have verified that all monitors are running correctly in Monitorion (give it 24 hours), pause or delete your UptimeRobot monitors. Keep your UptimeRobot account for a week as a safety net before fully deactivating.
