How to Monitor All Your Client Websites From One Dashboard (Free)

Monitoring Insights
If you manage websites for multiple clients, you have probably experienced the late-night panic: a client calls to say their site is down, and you had no idea. Standard monitoring tools are built for monitoring one organisation's infrastructure, not a portfolio of independent client sites. Here is how to set up professional monitoring for all your clients from one dashboard — free.
The Agency Monitoring Problem
Most monitoring tools give you a flat list of monitors. When you are watching 10, 20, or 50 client sites, a flat list becomes unmanageable. You cannot tell at a glance which monitors belong to which client, and configuring separate alert destinations for each client is tedious.
Monitorion solves this with Projects — separate workspaces for each client, with their own monitors, alert channels, and status pages. Your clients can even be invited as viewers so they can check their own status at any time.
Step 1: Create a Project per Client
In Monitorion, go to Projects → New Project and create one project per client. Name it after the client. Each project is isolated — monitors, incidents, alerts, and status pages are all scoped to the project.
Step 2: Add 5 Monitors per Client Site
For each client website, add these five monitors inside their project:
- HTTP check — monitors the homepage URL, alerts if it returns a non-200 status or exceeds your response time threshold
- SSL certificate — alerts when the certificate is within 30 days of expiry (configurable), preventing the embarrassing "your connection is not private" error
- Domain expiry — alerts when the domain registration is within 60 days of expiry, so you never lose a domain accidentally
- Ping — raw connectivity check, independent of the web server, catches infrastructure-level outages
- Security headers — grades the site A–F on missing headers like Content-Security-Policy, HSTS, X-Frame-Options — catches security regressions after plugin updates or deployments
This five-monitor setup takes about 3 minutes per client and gives you comprehensive coverage.
Step 3: Configure Per-Client Alerts
In each project's settings, add the alert channels relevant to that client. For most agency setups:
- Your email — so you are always notified first
- Client contact email — so the client is looped in automatically (optional, but shows professionalism)
- Slack or Teams channel — if you have a shared channel with the client
Monitorion supports 11 alert channels. You can configure different channels for different severity levels — email for SSL expiry warnings, phone call for complete outages.
Step 4: Set Up a Status Page per Client
Go to Status Pages in the project and create a public status page. Share the URL with your client: status.monitorion.com/your-client-slug. The client can check it anytime to see the current state of all their monitors and view incident history.
On the Business plan, you can use a custom domain (status.clientdomain.com) for a fully white-label experience. This makes you look like you have an enterprise monitoring operation — because you do.
Step 5: Invite the Client as a Viewer
In the project team settings, invite the client as a Viewer. Viewers can see monitor status, incident history, and uptime statistics — but cannot change any configuration. Your client gets transparency without the ability to accidentally break anything.
Turn Monitoring Into a Service Line
Once you have this setup, you can offer "website monitoring and maintenance" as a recurring service line. Many agencies charge $50–$150/month per client for managed monitoring and maintenance. With Monitorion's Pro plan at $29/month covering up to 50 monitors (that is 10 clients with the 5-monitor setup), your margin is significant.
When a client site goes down, you know before they do. When their SSL certificate is about to expire, you renew it proactively. When a plugin update breaks their security headers, you catch it before Google does. That is the difference between reactive support and proactive professional service.
