It combines uptime monitoring, on-call scheduling, and status pages into a polished package. But polish comes at a price, and that price climbs steeply as your monitoring needs grow. Here is how Monitorion compares.

Pricing: Where the Gap Hurts

Better Uptime's free plan, called the "Hobby" tier, includes 10 monitors at 3-minute intervals with limited integrations. Their Team plan starts at $85/month (billed annually) for the monitoring component alone. If you want their full stack — uptime, logs, and on-call — you are looking at significantly more.

Monitorion's Pro plan is $29/month ($24 billed annually) and includes 50 monitors, 1-minute intervals, all 25 monitor types, all 9 alert channels, and private network workers. Our Business plan at $99/month adds 200 monitors, 30-second intervals, SLA reports, and unlimited team members.

Monitor Types

Better Uptime supports HTTP(s), Ping, keyword checks, and some API monitoring. They have recently added more check types, but the total is still well below what Monitorion offers.

Private Network Monitoring

Better Uptime does not offer a self-hosted worker for monitoring services behind firewalls. If your infrastructure includes internal APIs, microservices in a private VPC, or staging environments that are not publicly accessible, you cannot monitor them with Better Uptime without exposing them.

Monitorion's open-source private worker is available on all paid plans. It installs in your network as a Docker container, polls for jobs over HTTPS (no inbound ports needed), and executes checks against your internal targets. The worker authenticates with SHA-256 hashed API keys, runs as a non-root user, and uses a read-only filesystem. It is secure by design.

Incident Management

This is an area where Better Uptime has invested heavily. Their incident management includes on-call schedules, escalation policies, and post-mortem tools. If your primary need is incident management with monitoring as a secondary feature, Better Uptime's tools are more mature in this specific area.

Monitorion's Business and Agency plans include automated SLA reports. Generate professional compliance reports showing uptime percentages, response times, and incident history for any time period. Both platforms support team accounts. Better Uptime has team management with roles. Monitorion uses project-based access control — team members are scoped to specific projects, and data isolation is enforced at the database level with Row Level Security.
